Riley Speaks On Youth Mental Health First Aid

The Peterborough Rotary Club hosted ConVal Special Education Teacher Deb Riley at the meeting on Monday, August 21. Riley shared an update with the Club about the Youth Mental Health First Aid regional initiative made available by the Monadnock System of Care. Riley is pictured with Peterborough Rotary Club President Steve Kim.
The Monadnock Region System of Care Project is a regional initiative focused on improving the emotional and behavioral health needs of children/youth and their families funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.

Youth Mental Health First Aid equips teachers, parents, and caregivers with the skills they need to identify and reach out to a young person who may be experiencing a mental health or substance use problem. Riley is one of fourteen trainers within the Monadnock region.

Young people can face a variety of mental health conditions, and knowing how to recognize and provide assistance tailored to the individual’s needs is important.
