World Languages

The mission of the World Languages Department is to equip students linguistically and culturally in a targeted world language, emphasizing the U.S. National Standards of:

  • Communication
  • Understanding of culture
  • Connection with other disciplines
  • Connection with other cultures
  • Participation in multilingual communities

Classroom learning is enhanced by the World Language Resource Center where computer-aided instruction is provided by a set of dedicated PCs and a 32-station Tandberg Sanako 100 system. This fully digitized language learning system is designed to:

  • improve student listening comprehension
  • develop student speaking and pronunciation skills
  • enhance student self-monitoring and correction
  • provide real-time guidance and support for students from the teacher

The World Languages Department also supports the following co-curricular student clubs and activities: French Club, German Club, and Spanish Club.
