AP exam scores range from 1 to 5, with 5 being the highest.
- Nine students earned AP Scholar recognition. This recognition is awarded to students who score 3 or more on at least three AP exams.
- Ten students earned AP Scholar with Honor recognition. This recognition is awarded to students who have averaged a minimum of 3.25 on the AP exams they take, and score 3 or more on at least four of those exams.
- Four students earned AP Scholar with Distinction recognition . This recognition is awarded to students who average a minimum of 3.5 on all their AP exams and score 3 or more on at least five of these exams.
“Taking an AP course requires time and dedication. Receiving these high scores and recognitions is something all of these students may take pride in,” Principal McKillop said.
Through more than 30 college-level courses and exams, AP provides motivated and academically prepared students with the opportunity to earn college credit or advanced placement at the college level, and stand out from their peers as they navigate the college admissions process.
More than 3,600 colleges and universities annually receive AP grades. More than 90 percent of four-year colleges in the U.S. report that AP students who score a 3 or higher on AP Exams typically experience greater academic success in college and enjoy higher graduation rates than students who do not participate in the AP program as high school students.
“As a district we’re exceptionally proud of these students for demonstrating such a high standard on challenging exams during a very trying school year,” Superintendent Rizzo Saunders said.

To prepare, the students individually read the poem, “Did I Miss Anything?” by Tom Wayman. They also practiced annotating it by writing their observations, questions, and thoughts in the margins. The students then met in small groups to discuss the poem and its meaning.
When the class gathered back together, Mrs. Holcombe asked the students what went well in their small group discussions and what did not. The students shared that their conversations were more interesting when everyone participated and shared their thoughts.
They noted that when no one or only a few students talked, the discussion quickly became awkward. The activity reminded students that all of their voices are important in helping each other learn.

Good Afternoon ConVal Community,
We were informed today of a case of COVID-19 at ConVal High School (CVHS). We contacted, worked with, and followed guidelines from the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (NH DHHS) to determine if any staff or students had close contact. Thanks to the vigilance of the family, staff, and students, no individuals within the school community met NH DHHS’s definition of close contact, and we are able to continue our present programming at CVHS.
The staff and students of CVHS, as well as staff and students in all of the District’s schools, continue their focus on implementing the mitigation strategies outlined in the District’s Reopening and Recovery Plan which align with NH DHHS’s recommended precautions to prevent the spread of the disease:
- Get vaccinated, for those who are eligible.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.
- Avoid high risk locations, especially ones that are indoors and crowded, and where people are unable to maintain physical distance from others.
- If there is substantial community transmission in your area, wear a cloth face covering that covers your mouth and nose to protect others when in public areas.
- Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, then throw the tissue in the trash and wash your hands.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
- Stay home and seek testing if you have a fever or are not feeling well.

Good Afternoon ConVal Community,
We were informed today of a case of COVID-19 at ConVal High School. We are actively working with and following guidelines from the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).
NH DHHS has requested we provide contact information for anyone who has been identified as having had close contact (within 3 feet unmasked for a total of 10 cumulative minutes or more, beginning 2 days prior to first illness onset or collection of a positive test, whichever is earlier) with the infected person.
The staff and students of CVHS continue to do a wonderful job of working within the mitigation strategies of our Reopening and Recovery Plan. At this point there is no need to change our instructional model and all students will remain in person.
The current recommendation from NH Department of Health and Human Services (NH DHHS) for people who may be exposed to COVID-19 in the school setting is to:
- For 14 days from the last day of exposure:
- Monitor for COVID-19 symptoms and
- Wear a mask in indoor public settings and
- Consider testing 3-5 days following the last day of exposure
- If your child develops symptoms please isolate them at home and seek testing for COVID-19.
- Symptomatic students or staff can be allowed to return to school when one of the following two conditions is met:
- Person receives an FDA-approved COVID-19 test that is negative, AND the person’s symptoms are improving and they are fever-free for at least 24 hours off any fever-reducing medications. Approved tests include:
- A PCR-based molecular test
- Antigen testing conducted within an appropriate number of days since symptom onset
- Person has met CDC criteria for ending home isolation (i.e., if a person is not tested, they are assumed to be COVID-19 positive).
- Person receives an FDA-approved COVID-19 test that is negative, AND the person’s symptoms are improving and they are fever-free for at least 24 hours off any fever-reducing medications. Approved tests include:
Our school is working closely with the New Hampshire (NH) Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) to follow the guidance they have provided for this situation and will provide updates should their recommendations change.
Because COVID-19 is most commonly spread through respiratory droplets, the NH DHHS is recommending the following precautions to prevent the spread of the disease:

On the first day of school, the German Club welcomed first-year students to German class by helping them make a "Schultüte" (“school cone”, pronounced shool-too-tuh). These are paper cones filled with treats, small gifts, and school supplies.
In Germany, it is traditional for parents to give their children a Schultüte to wish them luck on their first day of school. Pictured here, two German club students give a leftover Schultüte to faculty and staff members, including Mr. Bartsch.

Their key advice: get involved with a club or other activity, and don’t worry.
New students will soon find their way around campus. The morning ended with an ice cream social and time for students to connect with old and new friends.
