This past week, Schuyler Michalak competed in Alaska representing Team New England at the Junior National Nordic Championships. Just being selected to this event is a huge honor — only 15 girls from the five-state New England region were chosen to compete, and Michalak had earned this opportunity by placing in the top 15 in New England in U20/U18 combined division.
At at the Cross Country Junior Nationals in Anchorage, Michalak had top 20 finishes for all three of her individual events: she placed 19th in the 5k skate race, 9th in the classic sprints, 15th in the classic 10 k and 7th in the team relay skate. She also earned the official “All-American” designation after finishing among the top 10 in the nation in the Sprint Classic event.
