Seymour, who had taught at ConVal from 2013 to 2017, was killed in a car accident on Wednesday. "Nick Seymour’s passing is a tragic loss, both for our school and our wider community," principal Gib West noted in a message to the ConVal community. "He was proud to be a graduate of ConVal who returned to give back to our community.""For those students for whom school was a challenge or an obstacle, Nick was their champion. He maintained high expectations for all students, regardless of their abilities, and celebrated their successes, both great and small," West continued. "Today, one of his former students posted on Facebook that, if it hadn't been for Mr. Seymour, she never would have had the courage or the ability to attend college. Nick Seymour was a kind and caring person who was as passionate about his students as he was about history."
The communities at South Meadow School, where Seymour had taught before teaching at ConVal, ConVal High School, and Merrimack High School, where Seymour had just started to teach this fall, are united in their grief. "We ask that our community continue to care for one another, not only in this time of loss but always," West concluded. "Thank you for your patience and understanding as we all strive to come to terms with the loss of a cherished colleague, friend, and mentor."
