National Honor Society (NHS)

The National Honor Society (NHS) is a national organization dedicated to recognizing outstanding high school students. The NHS serves to recognize those students who have demonstrated excellence in all four areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character.

Each year, NHS students engage in a number of events to render service within their community. Previous chapter projects have included peer mentoring, academic tutoring, participating in Read Across America in our district’s elementary schools, hosting a paper product collection for a local homeless shelter, and more.

What is the Selection Process for the NHS?

Information regarding the selection process for the National Honor Society can be found by clicking here. Juniors and senior students who meet the GPA requirements are notified of their eligibility for NHS via their school email address no later than October 1st of each school year.

Is there a quota or limit on the number of students selected?

There is no quota or limit on the number of students who can be selected.  Any student who meets the GPA requirement and completes the Student Activities Form by the communicated deadline is considered for selection. The selection is ultimately determined by the Faculty Council.

Once selected, what are the member obligations?

Following induction, students are expected to continue to uphold the four pillars, be present at the weekly 7 am Thursday meetings, participate in all NHS sponsored events, and complete 5 hours of individual community service per quarter that reflects their particular talents and interests.
