Mixing It Up In Chemistry, Breakout Style

Moira Milne’s Honors Chemistry class recently completed a set of timed tasks in the ConVal Library Learning Commons which was organized by librarian Rachael Bowman and Ashley Jones in the form of a breakout activity.

Students were grouped into cooperative teams of 3 to 4 each and then competed against each other and against the clock to solve questions involving research, organization, and collaboration. Each successful solution to a puzzle unlocked tasks of higher levels of difficulty until the entire sequence was solved.

Student engagement was high and all teams solved the challenges successfully.
