ConVal Regional High School’s Department of Visual and Performing Arts will host a public screening of PBS’ “ART21: Chicago” episode on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 from 6:00 – 8:00pm in the Lucy Hurlin Theater.
Following the screening, the public will be invited to a 30-minute follow up discussion of the episode with students from the ConVal arts programs and invited community artists.
This is a free event but donations to “Fill the Void” are encouraged. The “Fill The Void” campaign supports the design and construction of the Contoocook Valley Visual and Performing Arts Center, a planned multi-purpose arts facility on the grounds of ConVal High School that will serve as a performing arts center, instructional space, and regional venue for arts events and exhibitions.
ART21 is a celebrated global leader in presenting thought-provoking and sophisticated content about contemporary art, and the go-to place to learn first-hand from the artists of our time. A nonprofit organization, ART21’s mission is to inspire a more creative world through the works and words of contemporary artists.
In this episode, artists reveal the ways in which their communities ignite ideas for photographs, sculptures, and drawings, and how those communities are invited by the artists to become part of the artworks themselves. The featured artists are Nick Cave, Theaster Gates, Barbara Kasten, and Chris Ware.
