Transitioning a traditional school library program and services to a library learning commons model is supported by the ConVal School District. Research indicates that the development of flexible learning environments, designed to provide interactive and collaborative opportunities and experiences, is essential to address the contemporary needs of school communities.
This was the focus of a pre-conference workshop at the Christa McAuliffe Technology Conference (CMTC) in Manchester on November 27. Well-known Learning Commons expert Dr. David Loertscher addressed the critical elements of the transition from library to learning commons. He was joined by participants from several NH schools, including librarians and technology integration specialists from the ConVal School District, who have already begun to incorporate learning common concepts and best practices.
Included as part of the workshop was a guided tour of the Shapiro Library/Wolak Library Learning Commons at Southern New Hampshire University SNHU.
