This past Thursday, members of the ConVal Band visited Peterborough Elementary School for the Annual Reading Night.
The band read a short musical picture book complete with sound effects. They demonstrated their instruments, taught briefly about musical notation, and gave audience members an opportunity to interact with various instruments.
Band director Jim Wickham observed: “The high school students, led by Michael Zrzavy, held the attention of the elementary students with passion for their music. Their delivery in presentation demonstrated knowledge and care. It was a pleasure watching the high schoolers work with the younger students.”
The performance was indeed a particular hit with the young students, one of whom gave Mr. Wickham a high five at the end (see picture at the end).
