The ConVal Nordic team had an excellent day of racing in Whitefield, NH on Saturday, culminating in two skiers qualifying for the NH U16 team and another skier taking 4th place in the Boys B race.
Allison Bull and Jaimini Viles each skied fast enough to have their combined times from the NH Coaches Series February 1 classic race and this Saturday’s skate race place them in the top 24 boys and girls in the State in the U16 category (birth years 2004 and 2005.)
They will go on to represent NH in the New England U16 Championships slated to take place on March 6-8 in Chittenden, VT, competing against similar teams from Massachusetts, Vermont, Maine, and sometimes New York. In addition, Avery Pope took fourth place in the Boys B race on the challenging 5K course at the White Mountain Regional High School.
Cougar co-captain Cami Hendrixson and Eva Calcutt were also in contention for placing on the U16 teams but were narrowly edged out in the stiff competition during the girls A race.
Senior and co-captain Rowan Inglis posted his best performance in his four years skiing in the Coaches Series and was joined by Philip Pope in scoring for the ConVal team in the Boys A race after Viles.
Avery Pope led the way in the Boys B race, followed by Cougars Lewis Carlton, Sam Rousseau, Riley Momenee, David DeShane, and Dhanesh Airi.
On the girls side, Gwen Inglis, Eme Tyler-Wall, Abby Hendrixson, and Margot Kratzenberg all scored for the ConVal team in the B race.
The Cougars travel to Hanover on Wednesday for their final divisional skate race, then go on to the Division II State Championships on March 4.
