ConVal Regional High School’s Commencement Exercises for the Class of 2018 took place on June 16, 2018.
After the pomp and circumstance processional, performed by the ConVal Band, and the singing of the national anthem by the senior members of Select Choir, Principal Gib West and Class President Dominique Wheeler gave welcoming speeches.
Valedictorian Lily Denehy and Salutatorians Bailey Kirkpatrick each delivered addresses to the Class of ’18. Mya Poluchov was the selected student speaker, followed by the performance of the senior song, “You Will Be Found” from the musical Dear Evan Hansen, by Senior Chorus members.
Riley Young and Dan Curran were announced as the co-winners of the 2018 Faculty and Staff Award, presented by Kim Chandler, Ben Putnam, and Karen Fabianski.
English teacher Jason Lambert gave a thought-provoking and entertaining Message to Seniors, entitled “Graduation Day – On Plans and Stories, With Affection.”
After the awarding of the diplomas by Principal Gib West and Superintendent Kimberly Saunders, Emma Crowley bid farewell to the Class of ’18 with a humor-filled speech.
Thank you to the Graduation Advisors Deb Coyne and Judy Heddy, to the Class Advisors Gil Morris and Sam Winslow, to the Music teachers Krystal Morin and Jim Wickham, and to the Class Marshalls Manny Bowman and Daisy Young for organizing and conducting the event so smoothly.
A special thank you to Principal Gib West, Dean of Students Steve Bartsch, Director of School Counseling Kim Chandler, incoming Dean of Faculty Michelle Voto, Director of Student Services Cari Christian-Coates, Assistant Superintendent Dr. Ann Forrest, Superintendent Kimberly Saunders, the members of the ConVal School Board, and to all who made the 2018 Commencement Exercises such a memorable event.
