On the first day of school, the German Club welcomed first-year students to German class by helping them make a “Schultüte” (“school cone”, pronounced shool-too-tuh). These are paper cones filled with treats, small gifts, and school supplies.
In Germany, it is traditional for parents to give their children a Schultüte to wish them luck on their first day of school. Pictured here, two German club students give a leftover Schultüte to faculty and staff members, including Mr. Bartsch.
