ConVal Regional High School’s Commencement Exercises for the Class of 2017 took place on June 17, 2017.
After the processional and the national anthem, which was sung by the senior members of Select Choir, Principal Gib West and Class President Kara Ammon gave welcoming speeches.
Valedictorian Sarah Johnson and Co-Salutatorians Caroline Riffle and Sawyer Cawthern each delivered addresses to the Class of ’17. Meaghan Farrell was the selected student speaker, followed by the performance of the senior song “Teach Your Children” by Senior Chorus members.
Following the announcement of the Faculty and Staff Award winner by English teachers Mark Holding and Liz Moore, Social Studies teacher Eric Bowman gave a thought-provoking and exceptionally well-received Message to Seniors on the importance of sincerity in our lives. Bowman’s speech drew a standing ovation by the graduates and the assembled audience.
After the awarding of the diplomas by Principal Gib West and Superintendent Kimberly Saunders, Sage Cawthern bid the Class of ’17 farewell.
Thank you to the Class Advisors Judi Bernardi and Mike Wozmak, to the Music teachers Krystal Morin and Jim Wickham, to the Class Marshalls Isabel Wilder and Riley Bemont, and to all who made the 2017 Commencement Exercises such a memorable event.
