Michael Zrzavy has been selected for this year’s Evans-Reilly Award that is given annually by the Monadnock Rotary Club in memory of Rotarians David Reilly and William Evans.
The purpose of this award is to recognize and honor a ConVal High School Junior who demonstrates outstanding integrity and work ethic, an enthusiastic personality, positive leadership, above average scholarship, and an unusually strong commitment to school and community service.
Zrzavy is the daily “voice of ConVal” as well as an accomplished musician, performer and actor. He is a section leader of the Concert Band and is Drum Major and President of the ConVal Band. He has played roles in many ConVal theatre productions, is an 11-star National Honor Thespian, and serves as Technical Director of the ConVal Drama Club.
In addition, Zrzavy is an outstanding scholar. He is a member of the National German Honor Society Delta Phi Alpha and the recipient of the Gold Award for Distinguished Achievement on the National German Exam. He is a member of the ConVal National Ocean Science Bowl (NOSB) A Team and the Chemistry Club. He was a winner of the 2016 Edith Bird Bass Essay Contest and was recognized with a Harvard Book Award.
Zrzavy is a former class President and served as the Class Marshall for the graduating Class of 2016. In addition, he has worked as an Ambassador and Facilitator for the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Foundation which recognized him this year with the Outstanding Volunteer Award. He is also a long-time member of the Youth Advisory Board of Breathe New Hampshire, the New Chapter of the American Lung Association.
