Students in Abe Ewing’s Woodworking class are instructed in the safe use the proper and safe use of hand tools as well as portable and stationary power equipment.
The training includes everything from using different grits of sandpaper to working with the Laguna lathing machine, from using computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) design software to producing the finished products on Computer Numerical Control (CNC) wood manufacturing routers.
Once students have learned the basics, they are free to create personal projects where material processing, project layout, design, and fabrication are emphasized. The introductory Woodworking course serves as an excellent introduction to further manufacturing programs.
