Anatomy & Physiology Class Dissects Brains

Students in Carol Young’s Anatomy & Physiology Class are dissecting sheep brains while identifying, drawing and recording the different parts of the brain like the cerebrum, cerebellum, optic nerve, medulla oblongata, and spinal cord.

Conducting dissection labs gives students an appreciation of the complexity of organisms in a hands-on environment, helps them learn about the internal structures of animals, and motivates them to ask probing questions about anatomical structures and processes.
