ConVal’s annual Winter Concert was performed on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, in the gymnasium. Under the joint direction of Brian Moore and Jim Wickham, students had prepared a festive program with diverse musical selections.
The songs that were performed by the Chamber Choir, Mixed A Cappella, Select Choir, and Concert Choir ranged from traditional vocal materials sung in Latin and German all the way to the 2020 Catalonian hymn “Cold December Flies Away” and Mariah Carey’s hit song “All I Want for Christmas is You.” Othere selections included “Ave Rosa Sine Spinis,“ “O Magnum Mysterium,“ “Kling, Glöckchen,“ “O du fröhliche,” “Joy In The Morning,” “The Christmas Song,” “Take Me Home,” “Stopping By Woods,” “Autumn Gives Her Hand to Winter,” and more.
Instrumental pieces were performed by the Flex Band, Jazz Band, and Concert Band. Their selections included “Pacifica,“ “A Mad Russian’s Christmas,“ “Baba Yetu,“ “Byzantine Dances,” “Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!,” “Fly Me To The Moon,” “Vehicle,” and “Winter Wonderland.”
As is now tradition, the concert concluded with a Combined Ensemble rendition of a holiday song that invited audience participation.
