Nine “Black Fly” storytellers told their stories to an enthusiastic, sell-out crowd in ConVal High School’s Lucy Hurlin Theatre on Friday night. Presenters included community members as well as ConVal students and teachers.
The story themes ranged from the quest for a Peruvian culinary delicacy in an authentic village setting (look up “cuy” in a dictionary or online), to hair-raising experiences as camp counselors and hikers, and reflections on one’s early childhood as a “cry baby.”
The ConVal Black Fly Story Hour is an homage to NPR’s Moth Radio Hour. Emceed by Jamie Trowbridge, this popular event helps raise awareness, and much-needed funds, for the ConVal Visual and Performing Arts Center initiative.
