The Eastern States Exposition in Springfield, Massachusetts, also known as the “Big E”, is a unique kind of state fair. Rather than serving just one state, the Big E serves Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
Friday was “New Hampshire Day” at the Eastern States Exposition, and the ConVal High School Marching Band helped celebrate the Big E’s 100th birthday by leading the parade. Under the direction of Jim Wickham, the Band performed “Vehicle” by The Ides of March and “Centuries” by Fall Out Boy along the one-mile parade route.
After the parade, students got to visit the Avenue of States which features replicas of the original state houses of the six states involved in the fair. Exhibits and vendors within each house represent their own state cultures and traditions. Students were also free to explore the Midway and fairgrounds before returning to the charter buses by 9:00pm.
