ConVal District Participates in NH Tackles Hunger Week, Encourages Donations

Superintendent Kimberly Rizzo Saunders and Principal Heather Mckillop are pleased to announce that ConVal School District is continuing its longstanding tradition of participation in NH Tackles Hunger Week this year.

NH Tackles Hunger began Monday, Sept. 13 and ends Saturday, Sept. 18. The canned goods drive is organized by WMUR and the New Hampshire Food Bank with sports teams across the state.

Community members are encouraged to bring non-perishable canned food items to this weekend’s homecoming games. All donations will be delivered to the Peterborough Food Pantry. To view the homecoming games schedule, please click here.

Throughout the week, high school students will have the opportunity to drop off canned goods in bins outside of their classrooms.

Residents can make a direct donation to the Peterborough Food Pantry by clicking here.

Last year, the school collected monetary donations in lieu of canned goods due to COVID-19 concerns. ConVal collected over $2,300 in donations.  In total, ConVal has collected thousands of pounds of food through its participation in the program.

“Each year, I am pleasantly surprised by the sheer number of donations that we receive during NH Tackles Hunger Week. It is so inspiring to see residents come together in an effort to benefit families in the surrounding community,” said Superintendent Rizzo Saunders. “In the past, our district has collected the most donations in the state and I am confident that we can do it again this year. I encourage all those who can to participate.”
