Following its homecoming game on Friday, Sept. 16, where it hosted a local food drive as part of NH Tackles Hunger, the ConVal High School football team donated 1,840 pounds of nonperishable food items to the Peterborough Food Pantry. The Food Pantry will make the items available to community members in need.
In all, 200 pounds of food items were collected at the game, which was combined with the food purchased with a $250 Hannaford gift card donated by WMUR, $507 in cash donations and a $25 Shaw’s gift card.
The canned goods drive is organized by WMUR and the New Hampshire Food Bank, with schools across the state participating through Friday, Sept. 23.
Teacher Greg Morris’ advisory group earned a pizza party, donated by Friends of ConVal Athletics, for their efforts to collect the most donations of any advisory.
