ConVal NOSB Team Places Second In Nor’easter Bowl

On Saturday, February 12, ConVal High School had two teams compete in the 25th annual Nor’easter Bowl competition, the regional competition of the National Ocean Science Bowl (NOSB).

Congratulations to the ConVal Ocean Bowl Team 2 who was the runner up in the final scoring of the competition and placed second only to the team from Phillips Exeter Academy. ConVal Team 2 is made up predominantly of senior students who went to finish their last competition with a bang! The team members are: Caitlin Beal (team captain), Avery Pope, Leah Krason, Eva McCullough, and Violet Fletcher.

This year, the competition consisted of two round-robin rounds, followed by three single-elimination rounds based on total points rather than a head-to-head competition to accommodate the virtual competition style.

Ocean Bowl is an ocean science competition with schools participating from Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts in our region, and schools competing nationally from each state. ConVal’s NOSB teams are coached by science teacher Anna Muncy and math teacher Griffen Fletcher.
