On Wednesday night, ConVal Wrestling was victorious over Newport and Winnisquam.
After a short celebration ceremony of the wrestling seniors, Gareth Armstrong, Max Vassar, Trace Borozinski, Chi Fowler, Gabe Young, and Cam Jordan, ConVal took on Newport first. Newport appeared to wrestle a depleted lineup and ConVal won 70-6.
After Newport, ConVal wrestled a very competitive duel against Winnisquam. Although giving up 24 points because of injury-related forfeits, ConVal earned some pins to pull away 42-35. Although so many ConVal wrestlers handled their opponents, it was a hammerlock pin by sophomore Aiden “Brisket” Brissette that put the Cougars in the driver’s seat.
In JV action Briar Bethel and Louis Torres both tenaciously clinched their first wins of the season as first-year wrestlers.
