Despite COVID, Ski Team Tradition Continues

In holding a longstanding tradition, the Senior Dual GS Race is always held as the last race of the season.

It is not counted toward a ranking result (that affects the naming of the state team) because coaches have to submit our ranking to the NHIAA before this race. So instead of a competition, this was to be a fun night celebrating seniors.

The festivities include a dual GS where kids can ski parallel and simultaneously with their friends, seniors dressing in silly costumes, music blaring at the start, and plenty of cheering, posters, and overall support for our seniors at the finish.

This year an underclassman from Hollis Brookline had the idea to create a tunnel for the seniors to ski through at the end of the night. As we all helped to take down the course, the seniors remained at the top while the underclassman created the tunnel with skiers poles.

It was very heartwarming to see the seniors from all the schools ski through the tunnel while their peers and fellow racers from 4 schools (ConVal, Souhegan, Hollis Brookline, and Goffstown). All cheered them on.

Then at the bottom, ConVal was able to give the seniors vinyl posters and flowers to let them know how much we appreciate them and will miss them. It was a wonderful celebration.
