Engineering Students Tackle Thread Design In SolidWorks

Students in Engineering II are currently working on a SolidWorks assembly design that includes threads. The challenge is to create the threads and calculate the minimum and maximum pitches so the threads fit together when the part is manufactured.

SolidWorks is a solid modeling computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided engineering application published by Dassault Systèmes. It is considered the industry standard for product development and used heavily in the mechanical engineering. Over two million engineers and designers at more than 165,000 companies are using SolidWorks.
