ConVal’s Sarah Grossi delivered a presentation at the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) CareerTech VISION 2022 conference in Las Vegas on Friday, December 2. The title of her workshop, which she presented in collaboration with R. Lennon Audrain, was “Designing and Implementing Grow-your-own Education Programs using Work-based Learning.”
The presentation addressed the “grow-your-own (GYO) teacher programs” under the Education & Training career cluster in school districts. According to the workshop description, as schools and districts continue to build these programs, “it will be essential that they use best practices for teaching their students the knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary to — and capturing their interest in — work in the education field. In this session, GYO and Education & Training teachers will learn how to design and implement work-based learning experiences that are grounded in best practices for teaching their students how to think and act like education professionals.”
As part of its mission to provide educational leadership in developing a competitive workforce, ACTE seeks to empower educators to deliver high-quality CTE programs which ensure that all students are positioned for career success.
