The Monadnock Ledger published an article on ConVal’s unified sports on January 5, 2016.
Ben Conant, sports editor at the Ledger, visited a practice of ConVal’s Unified Basketball Team. From its inception last year, when it consisted of 8 players and 10 partners, the team has grown to 11 players and 19 partners this year.
Unified sports in New Hampshire have existed under NHIAA rules since 2011. ConVal formed its team somewhat later than other districts but has seen steady growth and success since then.
Coach Kevin Carne hopes that the team will be competitive but stresses that the most important aspect of unified sports is team spirit. “That team spirit helps unify the people in the school community,” Carne said.
