The ConVal Music Department delighted audience members young and old with a superb Spring Concert on Tuesday. The Chamber Choir, Mixed A Cappella, Contemporary Band, Jazz Band, Select Choir, Concert Choir, and Concert Band all performed a wide-ranging repertoire of traditional, modern, and contemporary music.
Of particular note was the Concert Choir’s performance of “Measure Me, Sky!” by Jonathan Reid, a lyrical piece based on the poem by Pulitzer-Prize winning poet Leonora Speyer. Another highlight was the ConVal Band ‘s rendition of “(Risk) Everything For A Dream,” a composition by Richard Saucedo to celebrate United Sound, an organization whose mission it is to remove barriers and foster social change through music by putting instruments into the hands of special needs students (see photos in the slideshow above).
“Our students are truly exceptional!” said Principal McKillop after the concert.
