Sophomore To Compete In International German Olympiad

Sophomore Jadyn Vaidya has been selected as one of just 14 students nationwide to take part in the final round of the International German Olympiad.
Jadyn will be traveling to Illinois to participate in the national final round which will be held at the Goethe Institut in Chicago on December 1 and 2. The 14 national finalists will compete to solve tasks in the style of an “Olympic pentathlon” that tests listening skills, reading skills, writing, creativity, and presentation. A cultural program that includes a visit to the “Christkindlmarkt” and a scavenger hunt in Chicago’s German district are also planned.
After the competition, the two best “Olympic athletes” will be chosen to represent the United States in the International German Olympics in Freiburg in the summer of 2018. The International German Olympiad (Internationale Deutscholympiade, IDO) is the largest German language contest in the world.
Viel Glück, Jadyn, on your competition at the national finals, and congratulations to Frau Concannon for preparing Jadyn for the contest!
