Student Movie Shorts Selected For Statewide Film Festival

Four ConVal student films have been selected for screening at the 2023 New Hampshire High School Short Film Festival. The Festival will open on Sunday, May 21, at 11:30 am, with screening starting 12:30 pm at Chunky’s Cinema in Manchester. Admission is free.

The following student films were accepted for screening:

  • “Avian Automatons” by Trent Stafford
  • “Chasing The Past” by Jennifer Hopkins
  • “In My Mind” by Ethan Marony
  • “Peterborough Fire and Rescue” by Francisco Jaimes

The selection of these movie shorts means that the films have made the first cut on their way to potentially receiving an award.  All film nominations, regardless of type or genre, were judged on the filmmakers’ ability to effectively captivate their audience through the craft and art of cinematic expression. Originality, cinematic storytelling, and technical execution were the basis of the scoring of this stage in the competition.

Launched in 2008 and presented by the New Hampshire Film and Television Office, the New Hampshire High School Short Film Festival has become one of the marquee film festivals in the state, fostering interest in filmmaking, supporting media arts education in schools, and rewarding future members of the industry for their craft.
