ConVal High School came together as a school community on Friday to celebrate the five year anniversary of TASC.
TASC is the flexible time block which allows students to schedule academic interventions, engage in enrichments and extensions of their learning, or receive social and emotional supports, all during the regular school day.
Since its inception in 2011, TASC at ConVal has met with very high satisfaction by students, parents, and faculty.
Students appreciate TASC as a time to get timely help with questions they may have about course materials. Parents appreciate the connection between their student and a TASC home mentor who, in addition to an assigned school counselor, provides a stable personal connection for the four years of high school. And teachers appreciate the opportunity to address smaller difficulties and rough spots for students before they become bigger problems.
The idea to celebrate the five year anniversary with a series of activities and contests was the brainchild of Mathematics teacher Greg Morris who also emceed the event.
