[post_content] => The ConVal Regional High School Counseling Department has announced that sophomores Henry Bernstein, Erich Clark, and Abigail Theberge were selected to represent ConVal at the 2019 Hugh O’Brian Leadership Conference in May. The HOBY Conference is a weekend-long program held at the St. Anselm College and will host sophomore student leaders from across New Hampshire.
Bernstein, Clark, and Theberge were three of seventeen sophomores nominated by school staff for the conference. Fourteen candidates were interviewed by the committee.
Henry Bernstein is the son of Dr. David and Samantha Bernstein of Hancock. He is vice president of the German Club and a member of the Revolution Ethics Project and Ocean Bowl. Bernstein has represented ConVal as a member of our track and field and cross country teams.
Erich Clark is the son of Jeffrey and Casandra Clark of Peterborough. He is a member of the ConVal Student Council and represents ConVal as a member of our varsity football team and junior varsity basketball team. Clark is the recipient of both the Cougar Award for basketball and an NHIAA Sportsmanship Award.
Abby Theberge is the daughter of Timothy and Stacy Theberge of Hancock. She is the student advisor for the Contoocook Valley Visual and Performing Arts Center and an active member of ConVal’s select choir and girls a cappella. Theberge has participated in ConVal’s theatrical productions as well as the NHETG Festival and is a member of the International Thespian Society.
The seminar provides an opportunity for high school sophomores to recognize their potential talents and apply them in becoming effective, ethical leaders of the future. An estimated 7,500 sophomores attend the seminars in all 50 states and Canada each year. At the end of each seminar, a boy and a girl from each location are selected to attend the World Leadership Congress.
HOBY’s mission is to inspire and develop our global community of youth and volunteers to a life dedicated to leadership, service and innovation. HOBY programs are conducted annually throughout the United States, serving local and international high school students. HOBYprograms provide youth selected by their schools to participate in unique leadership training, service-learning and motivation-building experiences.

[post_content] => The Goethe-Institut invited German students and teachers of the PASCH-schools in the USA to an immersion weekend triathlon in Colorado from September 27 to 30.
The teams from each respective school competed in exciting competitions related to German language and culture, built friendships across their own state borders and put their German to practical use.
The triathlon was held in the Estes Park Center, near Denver, and served to connect German students as well as give German teachers the opportunity to exchange ideas. Thirteen different schools attended including Conval. Representing Conval were Rachel Cass, Alyssa Janoch, Max Heck, and Finn Wegmueller.

The drumline performed a number of cadences and the band played songs that make you want to dance. Some of the highlights were "Uptown Funk," "Jungle Boogie," and "My House."
Senior Bronwyn Tyler-Wall won a blue ribbon for her solo trombone performance in "Boogie Down." The Big E special events coordinator already stated his excitement to have our band back next year.
The Eastern States Exposition in Springfield, Massachusetts, also known as the “Big E”, is a unique kind of state fair. Rather than serving just one state, the Big E serves Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

[post_content] => The NH Business and Industry Association (BIA) is New Hampshire's statewide chamber of commerce. Their task is to monitor and to respond to issues that directly impact businesses of all industries and sizes, and to provide them with a direct connection to the legislative process.
Once a year, the BIA publishes Enterprise, a magazine that is devoted to discussing the challenges and successes of New Hampshire businesses. On the cover of this year's edition is Anthony Clark, a ConVal High School student who completed an internship with Graphicast in Jaffrey. Next to Anthony is Val Zanchuk, Graphicast's president and past chair of the BIA.
In the magazine, Zanchuk discusses how his company has teamed up with ConVal's Career and Technical Education (CTE) program to provide internship opportunities to students who are interested in a manufacturing career. “I have an intern from ConVal,” Zanchuk says in the article, referring to Clark. “He’s learning about design, he’s learning about working on machining, he’s going to be working on programming machinery and he’ll be learning about plant operations by being here.” You can read the article "Manufacturing leads New Hampshire's Economy" by clicking here and read the online version of Enterprise magazine, in its entirety, by following this link.
The NH BIA represents more than 400 members in a variety of industries, including advanced manufacturing, high technology, professional services, financial services, healthcare, hospitality and tourism, public utilities, higher education, and insurance. Member firms employ 89,000 people throughout the state, which represents one in seven jobs, and contribute $4.5 billion annually to the state’s economy. Enterprise is published by McLean Communications and is distributed statewide.

The HOBY Conference is a weekend-long program held at the St. Anselm College and will host sophomore student leaders from across New Hampshire.
