The Peterborough Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution announced senior Lydia Cleveland as the winner of the 2023 DAR Good Citizen Award.
The DAR Good Citizen program and associated scholarship contest are intended to reward the qualities of good citizenship.
Students selected for this award must have the following qualities:
dependability, which includes truthfulness, loyalty, and punctuality;
service, which includes cooperation, courtesy and consideration of others;
leadership, which includes personality, self-control and ability to assume responsibility; and
patriotism, which includes unselfish interest in family, school, community, and nation.

Each year, Scholastic Arts partners with more than 100 visual arts and literary arts organizations across the country to bring the Awards to local communities. Teens in grades 7 through 12 apply in 29 categories of art and writing.
Submissions are juried by luminaries in the visual and literary arts, some of whom are past award recipients. Panelists look for works that best exemplify originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision.

These students demonstrate the keys to being successful language learners by having a positive attitude and a willingness to take academic risks. They demonstrate perseverance and curiosity and have proven themselves to be successful collaborators.

Congratulations to senior Nicole Davison who was selected by the Region 14 ATC faculty as its November CTE Student of the Month.
Davison was nominated by her Digital Photo & Video teacher Lance Levesque for demonstrating superior professional skills as well as skills in her content area.
She has won a $150 prize, courtesy of the Peterborough Kiwanis Club, as well as other honors.
A World Language Poetry Recitation Contest was held in German and Spanish classes at ConVal High School on Wednesday, December 7. Kudos to all the students who memorized and recited poems in their chosen foreign language.

Congratulations to Technology Integration Specialist Helfried Zrzavy who received the Susan Janosz Technology Impact Award from the New Hampshire Society for Technology in Education (NHSTE). He received the award during an honorary luncheon at the Christa McAuliffe Technology Conference (CMTC) in Manchester on November 30.
Zrzavy accepted the award on behalf of the entire ConVal High School Library, Integration, and Technology Services (LITS) team and the district-wide Blended Learning Leadership Team (BLLT). He also thanked the school and district administrations as well as the ConVal School Board for their support, without whom the establishment of a successful blended learning environment would not have been possible.
The NHSTE Technology Impact Award is named in memory of Susan Janosz, a longtime employee of the Manchester School District who was employed as a Technology Integrator. In the past, this award has gone to Technology Directors, Technology Coordinators, Technology Integrationists, Curriculum Coordinators, Media Specialists/Generalists, School District Administrators (i.e., Principals and Vice Principals), and SAU Administration (i.e., Superintendents and Assistant Superintendents).

Just in time for Thanksgiving, the Monadnock Ledger-Transcript announced its fall sports awards.
Two ConVal athletes were singled out for exemplary achievements:
Wyatt Beaulieu (soccer): The Ledger-Transcript lauded Beaulieu for his 11 shutouts for the Final Four-bound ConVal boys soccer team and for the "play of the year with his diving stop on a quarterfinal overtime penalty kick."
Everett Benham (football): According to the Ledger-Trasncript, "Benham gave everything he had to the ConVal team this fall, putting his body on the line to help give Cougar fans something to cheer for."
