He is a photo artist who specializes in surrealist photography. At ConVal, the highly evocative and imaginative creations of Nois7 are taught and analyzed alongside the work of such famous photographers as Ansel Adams, Dorothea Lange, and others. On Monday, Ms. Bastoni's Introduction to Photo/Video class and Ms. Hodgdon's German III class had the opportunity to conduct a Skype interview with the world-famous photographer who lives in Düsseldorf, Germany. Ahead of the interview, students in both classes prepared questions which were read aloud in German. For over an hour, Nois7 answered questions and spoke, partly in English and partly in German, with Ms. Hodgdon's students providing the translation. The questions covered a wide range of topics. What inspired Nois7 to get into photography? What prompted him to develop his unique style? How long has he used Photoshop? What are his future plans? The interview ended with Nois7 taking a photo of the Skype session with the students and publishing it on his Instagram feed (see below). Find out more about the unique art of Nois7, check out Robert Jahns' artist's statement online and follow him on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nois7/ . The show focuses on the characters of Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso who are in their early twenties and have a chance encounter in a bar called the "Lapin Agile" (the "Nimble Rabbit") in the Parisian artist quarter of Montmartre. Both men are on the verge of a major breakthrough — Einstein is about to publish his Special Theory of Relativity, Picasso is painting his Les Demoiselles D'Avignon, his first proto-cubist work. Within this historical context, Einstein and Picasso debate the value of genius and talent while they each help usher in the science and culture of the early 20th century. The play is far from heady, though, and has plenty of comedic moments. Einstein and Picasso interact with several characters, including an amicable drunk Frenchman, the bar maid, an enterprising inventor, an unscrupulous art dealer, a countess and an avantgarde artist groupie. There is even a time-traveling Elvis character. The ConVal production of Picasso at the Lapin Agile is directed by Haley Spitzfaden and co-produced by Liz Halper and Elizabeth Moore. Actors are (in order of appearance): Quinn Montgomery, Michael Zrzavy, Ingrid Aho, Patrick Sherlock, Emma Canty-Carrel, Thayer Taft, Ryan Hoiriis, Luke Wilson, Anna McGuiness, Amber Ruston, and Jason Frank. Costume design provided by Madeline Ciocci and Becket Gourlay; set design by Bruce Dodge; lighting design by Michael Zrzavy and Mickey Maguire. Riley Bemont is stage manager. The play poster was designed by Kaylin Krslovic. On Saturday June 27th of 2015, I knew I was setting off for an adventure, but little did I know the gift it would bring me after a year of living and working abroad in Madrid, Spain. The thrill and ambiguity of traveling has always been something exciting to me. Discovering and understanding new cultures through experience is personally the most effective way I learn. In high school, I found interactive projects in classes such as Western World History taught by Mr. Leonard, and Current Events taught by Mr. Seymour, to be the best way to not only learn, but to retain information. To be honest, I left the states with mixed emotions. I knew I wanted to continue my education through experience and interaction, but leaving home where all was familiar wasn’t something I felt ready to do. Looking back, I now know that girl flying for the first time by herself miles away from home was ready. She had the curiosity and confidence, but didn’t quite yet know it. She was about to learn not just about her new surroundings, but about herself.
Working as an Au pair in Europe has been an incredible experience. I’ve been remarkably fortunate to have met international friends who were once strangers, roamed the streets of historic Spanish cities, and adventured through the mountains and beaches of Spain. This gap year has only reaffirmed my view of the beauty traveling withholds. There are no words or pictures that can vividly enough explain the adrenaline rush of visiting a place that to oneself is uncharted territory. Through this year abroad, my curiosity and confidence that was once veiled by some apprehensiveness has helped me gain a better understanding of my own personal beliefs and ethics. While I do think it will take a lifetime, or maybe two, to fully satisfy my wanderlust, my Spanish adventure has given me the gift of self knowledge and has lead me to so many magical people and places along the way.

Burns and Florentine Films revived the documentary film tradition in the United States in 1990s. He is responsible for such award-winning documentaries as "The Civil War," "Baseball," "Jazz," "The War," "National Parks: America's Best Idea," "Prohibition," "The Central Park Five," and "The Roosevelts." Burns was also the executive producer behind "The West" and "Cancer: The Emperor of All Maladies" which can still be seen on PBS. At Florentine Films, students learned more about the process of editing, film making, production, and writing. They spoke with writer Dayton Duncan and watched a sneak peak of Burns' soon-to-be-released documentary, "Vietnam." The filed trip showed students the possibilities that are open to them if they choose to pursue photo and video as a career choice. Visiting Florentine Films also demonstrated to them the power of the medium. As one student was overheard saying: "I usually don't care much for history but it reeled me in and I want to watch the movie now."
