[post_content] => On Wednesday, students of German went on an exciting field trip to the German and Scandinavian Studies Program at Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures. With over eighty faculty members, 370 undergraduate majors, and nearly 200 graduate students, the Language Department is the largest department at UMass Amherst.
After a breakfast and welcome, a mixed group students from schools in Massachusetts and ConVal took a tour of the college campus. Then students got to sit in on a college German course.
"The exciting thing about that was that the CV students were able to fully participate in the class as they were at the same level as we are," said German teacher Cindi Hodgdon. "We also learned about the unique Scandinavian studies track and all of the interesting courses they offer. We ended with a lunch and goodie bags. The students appreciated seeing the campus and knowing that they can succeed in college German."

[post_content] => ConVal Drama will present Agatha Christie’s murder-mystery masterpiece, “The Mousetrap,” this April 7, 8, and 9 at 7:00 pm and April 10th at 2:00 pm.
The play, which has run continuously in London since October of 1952, turns the conventional “whodunit” on its head with its twist ending. Christie was so committed to the secrecy of the plot that even the short story, which was the basis for the play, has never been published in the United Kingdom. The only way to discover the secrets of Monkswell Manor and its inhabitants are to take a theatrical visit with us yourself.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students and seniors and can be reserved by calling the main office of ConVal High School (924-3869) during school hours.
The cast features Hunter Anderson of Antrim, Ryan Hoiriis of Bennington, and Riley Bemont, Madeline Ciocci, Daniel Curran, Becket Gourlay and Haley Spitzfaden of Peterborough, and Joshua Bartsch of Wilton. The crew is run by Jessica Adams and Nick Batty of Greenfield, and Mickey Maguire and Michael Zrzavy of Peterborough.
This production is directed by Liz Halper with assistance from Katharine Heck, both of Greenfield.

Dana Wood is a science teacher at ConVal. Please consider supporting her grant application with the organization Seeds of Change. All you have to do is click on a link to cast your vote.
To be brief, Ms. Wood has applied for funding to construct a hoop house to complement the planned farming activities on a parcel of land located next to the ConVal jug handle. The hoop house will help support our students' foray into sustainable agriculture, combining science with stewardship of the land.
Starting today, March 31st, until April 18th, everyone can vote daily in support of Ms. Wood's ConVal farm project. The top vote-getting proposals will be further reviewed by Seeds of Change and then funded.
To make voting easy, here is a memorable bitly link you can use: http://bit.ly/convalfarm. Click on the link and you can read more about the project, then cast your vote in support of Dana's proposal.
Thank you for your help in getting this project funded for the benefit of the students at ConVal!

[post_content] => The Library-Learning Commons at ConVal High School recently wrapped up its second annual "March Madness" event.
Students and staff voted each week as books were pitted against each other. What started as a "Sweet 16" led to a final winner, F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby.
The winners were English teacher Liz Moore, juniors Valerie St. Amand (not pictured) and Michael Zrzavy, and senior Beecher Clifton-Waite who correctly predicted that The Great Gatsby would win it all. Congratulations!
