Students in Spencer Fetrow’s Philosophy class are reading Robert M. Pirsig’s Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. One of the goals of the unit is to explore practical applications of philosophical ideas.

Students in Engineering II are currently working on a SolidWorks assembly design that includes threads. The challenge is to create the threads and calculate the minimum and maximum pitches so the threads fit together when the part is manufactured.

Interim Assistant Principal Erik Thibault, who joined ConVal High School on Monday, April 4, is very familiar with the school district. A resident of Peterborough, Thibault taught in the ConVal High School mathematics department from 2005-2010.

Students in Ben Putnam’s ceramics class learn the art of creating objects by carefully wedging clay, then shaping it with hand-building techniques or using the pottery wheel or extruder.
The completed objects are dried and fired in an electric kiln and finally decorated where different ceramic glazes and painting techniques are employed.
