[post_content] => The Monadnock Ledger published an article on ConVal's unified sports on January 5, 2016.
Ben Conant, sports editor at the Ledger, visited a practice of ConVal's Unified Basketball Team. From its inception last year, when it consisted of 8 players and 10 partners, the team has grown to 11 players and 19 partners this year.
Unified sports in New Hampshire have existed under NHIAA rules since 2011. ConVal formed its team somewhat later than other districts but has seen steady growth and success since then.
Coach Kevin Carne hopes that the team will be competitive but stresses that the most important aspect of unified sports is team spirit. "That team spirit helps unify the people in the school community," Carne said.

[post_content] => The officers of the ConVal chapter of the National Honor Society — Annie Henry, Sarah Kolk, Beecher Clifton-Waite, and Briana Jones — pose for a picture during the Society's induction ceremony for new members on Monday.
The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. NHS serves to recognize students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1921.

[post_content] => Hi ConVal!
To be honest, my time at Harvard has allowed me to become even more grateful for many of the great opportunities ConVal provided.
My first semester classes were roughly composed of 12, 250, 300, and 750 students each. The professor of the 750-student class, Introduction to Microeconomics, was only present for about seven class periods. The one with 250, Multivariable Calculus, only had three hours of class time per week, making me realize how great ConVal’s hour and twenty minute blocks were. Of course, many of my new friends attended elite high schools, at times perfecting 16 or more AP exams or attaining 2400’s on the SAT. But I definitely felt well prepared coming from ConVal, placing into the average introductory classes and feeling confident once in them.
I’ve found two clear-cut aspects of going to a residential liberal arts college to be my favorites. Firstly, I’ve learned a lot about politics, culture, and optimism just from conversations outside of the classroom – in my dorm, in my clubs, in my dining hall. Secondly, I love the ability to explore new academic disciplines. For instance, on the last day of our course registration period I decided to take a Psychology class to fulfill a general education requirement, and now I’d be surprised if I don’t minor in it.
For all students undecided about whether they want to attend college, I highly recommend it. It is an experience like none other, through both the thick and the thin.

[post_content] => Verena Hehl is a German graduate student at MIT where she is finishing her doctoral dissertation in Applied Linguistics.
Despite her busy schedule, Verena took time to visit ConVal's German program and participated in classes with Frau Hodgdon and Herr Holding. She sang German Christmas carols, made a Christmas star craft, read a short story, and discussed which holiday traditions originated Germany.
In this picture, Verena taught students holiday-related vocabulary.
