[post_content] => In what has become a monthly tradition, faculty and staff gather in the library for a “Breakfast Before The Bells.” The breakfasts are welcome opportunities for informal conversations and contacts between members of diverse departments.
On this last school day in March, the breakfast was sponsored by the members of the Mathematics and PE/Health departments as well as the Library, Integration, and Technology Services (LITS) team.
The game table was made by students in Mr. Ewing's woodshop class. It was added to the ConVal Library and Learning Commons just yesterday, and its purpose was already discovered during breakfast this morning!

[post_content] => Congratulations to senior Oliver Ellerkamp who has been selected for the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) program. The CBYX is for motivated high school students who want to experience German culture and language through a full immersion experience.
As a Congress-Bundestag scholar, Ellerkamp's exchange year will include: placement with a carefully selected German host family, admission to a German high school, cultural excursions to the German Bundestag and select German cities, and meetings with government officials.
Initiated in 1983, the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange was created to strengthen ties between Germany and the United States through citizen diplomacy. The program was founded in celebration of the 300th year anniversary of the first German immigration to the United States. CBYX is jointly funded by the U.S. Congress and the German Bundestag, and in the U.S. is overseen by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Over 24,000 students have prepared themselves for success in an increasingly global world by participating in the CBYX program.

[post_content] => The April issue of The Link, ConVal's student publication, will be devoted to the theme of "community."
To this end, Link staff and editors extend to the entire ConVal community — teachers, parents, students, staff, SAU, alumni, grade school and middle school students — an open invitation to contribute to the issue. The submissions can be artwork, poetry, essays, flash fiction/short stories, and photographs. Submissions should be sent to conval.link@gmail.com, with "Submission" as the subject line.
"It is essential that we hear from a variety of ConVal community members," said Amanda Bastoni, the academic advisor to The Link. "Please consider sharing your work with us."
Submissions will be accepted through Tuesday, March 28. This issue will be published in partnership with the Monadnock Ledger-Transcript and run on April 4th.

[post_content] => Nine "Black Fly" storytellers told their stories to an enthusiastic, sell-out crowd in ConVal High School's Lucy Hurlin Theatre on Friday night. Presenters included community members as well as ConVal students and teachers.
The story themes ranged from the quest for a Peruvian culinary delicacy in an authentic village setting (look up "cuy" in a dictionary or online), to hair-raising experiences as camp counselors and hikers, and reflections on one's early childhood as a "cry baby."
The ConVal Black Fly Story Hour is an homage to NPR's Moth Radio Hour. Emceed by Jamie Trowbridge, this popular event helps raise awareness, and much-needed funds, for the ConVal Visual and Performing Arts Center initiative.

[post_content] => Four ConVal students took part in the Peterborough Rotary Club's Four Way Test Speech Contest at the Club's weekly meeting at the Unitarian Church in Peterborough.
Seniors Emma Brown, Emma Johnson, Hannah Cheneau and Rowan Tyne advanced to the contest after competing through their Public Speaking class at ConVal High School. Under the direction of English teacher Cathy Riley, the students composed five to seven minute, original speeches that apply the Rotary Four Way Test in our everyday relationships with other people.
The Four-Way Test is:
Is it the truth?
Is it fair to all concerned?
Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
Rotarians scored the speeches based on content, organization, and delivery. In the end, Johnson received fourth place; Brown third; Cheneau second, and Tyne received first place.
Tyne will go on to compete at the District level in Henniker.
