COVID health check protocols were conducted on everyone before they could enter the building. Signage reminded staff and students to remain 6 feet apart and to wear masks. Clearly marked one-way hallway traffic required the learning of new walking routes to get to the classroom.
But once the newness of the safety measures had worn off, teaching and learning resumed with the same vigor and joy that classes at ConVal had enjoyed before the pandemic. Please see the photos below for some scenes from today's first day of school at ConVal High School.

Former principal Michelle Voto and Jadyn Vaidya, President of the Class of 2020, welcomed the more than one hundred families who attended in person under observance of physical distancing guidelines. In a first for ConVal, the event was also live-streamed on YouTube so that extended families could attend online. Over 300 viewers took advantage of this new option, some from as far away as Florida and Hawaii.
Salutatorian Mather Kipka and Valedictorian Casey Jordan delivered addresses to the Class of 2020. A special moment during the commencement ceremonies was the speech by Social Studies teacher Greg Leonard congratulating Shannon Allen who received the 2020 ConVal Faculty and Staff Award. After the award speech, diplomas were distributed and Hunter Luke gave the Farewell Address.
Rosie Crooker and Reid Wilson served as the Class Marshalls for the event which was also attended by the class advisors Jennifer Kiley and Jim Wickham.
Congratulations, Class of 2020!
